Japanese Language Class (Sunday Course)

New Year’s Party

A new year 2009 has started.
The Japanese language class (Sunday course) held a new year’s party on Jan. 18(Sun.).
We very much enjoyed playing games, dancing and playing the harmonica.
About 50 people (volunteer staff, learners and their family) attended the party.
Foreign attendants were from Philippines, Thai, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan, Myanmar, Romania and Peru.

Hukuwarai game (a funny face game) that we put a white bag over head and draw a picture of the face.

Which group could draw the picture best, I wonder?

The next is a soccer play with Janken (the game of ‘paper, stone and scissors’).

Playing tunes on the harmonica…tunes of spring in Japan,
‘Kawanonagarenoyouni’ and so on.

The harmonica play moved our heart.
We sang songs in chorus to the harmonica accompaniment.

Dance performance by Filipina & Filipino learners and their friends

Not only dancers but also we all were getting into the rhythm.

Finally, we played bingo and exchanged our presents.
It was a very enjoyable party, wasn’t it?
Let’s study all together Japanese language this year, too.

Foreign attendants were 4 Koreans, 2 Peruvians, 15 Filipinas, 2 Taiwanese,
6 Thai, 2 French, a Myanmar woman and a Chinese (8 countries in total).

We each brought a-la-carte dish and
tasted them in a friendly atmosphere, telling the recipe for each dish.

After lunch, the foreign learners studied how to write a New Year’s card in Japanese.

They wrote the card in the “from top to bottom” style and
addressed it to their friend, a learner, or a volunteer staff.

Finally, we played bingo and exchanged our presents.
It was a very happy and cheerful party.
