Field Activity(Japanese language class, Sunday course)
Strolling along the Kawagoe
Japanese language class had the field activity on September 27 (Sun.).
We enjoyed strolling along the Kawagoe, so-called “little Edo”.
Twenty nine people (13 people of students and their family, and 16 Japanese staff) joined.
The students are from China, Korea, Philippines and Nepal.
The bus left Noda city office at 8.00 a.m. and arrived at KITAIN temple at 9.15 a.m.
At the KITAIN temple gate, we got explanations of “the history of KITAIN”, “the history of Kawagoe”, “the difference between temple and shrine”, and “how to worship at a shrine / temple”.

It is the rule to wash our hands and mouth before we worship at temple.
We tried to ring the bell well as we were taught.
We strolled along the street where the houses are in the warehouse style, and went to the Kawagoe Festival Museum.
We watched the video of the Kawagoe Festival and looked on a big float.
We dropped in at “Torisei”, a Japanese restaurant near “Toki no Kane”, to eat Torikamamesi for lunch.
After lunch, we walked around Kasiyayokocho (cake stores side-street), Data house on the warehouse style, Pottery store YAMAWA, etc.
We were to meet at “Toki no Kane” again at 3.00 p.m.
We came back to Noda city office at 4.30 p.m.
It was fun to come in touch with temples,a street of stores and houses, and cultures in the Edo era.
